About the Album
A multi-artist sampler CD from Vertigo that includes A Cry For Everyone. The liner notes about Gentle Giant are:
- Under a previous guise as Simon Dupree & The Big Sound, this group based around the talents of brothers Derek, Ray and Phil Shulman achieved a mildly psychedelic UK Top 10 hit in 1967 with "Kites", and by 1970 had metamorphosed into prog. rock stars Gentle Giant, a highly sophisticated and accomplished act which made four albums for Vertigo in the early Seventies before moving on to other labels later in the decade and finally disbanding in 1980 with a dozen albums under their belt. "A Cry For Everyone" was included in their fourth Vertigo LP, Octopus, in 1973.
