I don't know if the Mike Douglas Show was actually regional or national but, it was a TV show from Philadelphia which was on every afternoon on CBS in the tristate area. [Editor's note: The show in question was actually the Dinah Shore show. This has been confirmed by Sherman Hemsley!] My best friend and I used to see it after school everyday out of sheer boredom. We were both heavily into Gentle Giant and it was about the time that The Power and the Glory was released. On this particular occasion, Mike's guest on the show was Sherman Hemsley, the guy that played the character "George Jefferson" on the shows "The Jeffersons" and "All in the Family." On that occasion he was going to perform a dance. To our shock and amazement, the music he danced to was none other than Proclamation from The Power and the Glory! After his dance, Mike was laughing and asked what kind of music that was. Sherman then proceded to give a 5 minute speech on Gentle Giant. Mike stopped laughing when he realized that Sherman was 100% serious about Gentle Giant!
Boy was that a weird scene!
