These photos were taken at Portsmouth Guildhall on 19th December 1975. They were scanned from 35mm slides shot on GAF 500ASA film.
As I live in Portsmouth, England I used to bump into Gentle Giant occasionally in pubs such as "The Wheelbarrow," "India Arms" & "The Cambridge." They were always friendly and kept us up to date on upcoming tours or new album releases. I was always struck by the size of John Weathers hands: they used to wrap all the way around a typical English pint mug.
I met Gary Green a couple of times at his home in Campbell Road, Southsea. He used to work with a friend of mine on the Portsmouth to Isle of Wight ferry. I bought a few pieces of equipment from him just before he moved to America, probably about 1979/80. Ray had his old upright piano which badly needed retuning. I have vivid memories of us pushing the piano along the road, while Gary walked alongside playing a very out of tune version of "The Sound of Music."
