Year 1980

Immediately after Gentle Giant broke up, Gary and Ray formed the duo Shout, which released a single, "Starting Line." The project didn't last because the members lived on opposite sides of the Atlantic ocean.

The music, according to Gary, was "fairly stripped down. I played drums and guitar, Ray played a couple of guitar lines and bass and he sang and I sang a couple of harmonies. We had some more songs, they were nothing like Gentle Giant at all, more short, three and a half minute singles. I think we did about four or five demos."

The songs were rereleased on Scraping the Barrel.
